This page explains the driving theory test in Georgia (the country — Tbilisi, not the US state) and how to practise for it online: what the computer test looks like, where the official questions come from, how to take a free exam simulation without creating an account, which practice modes exist on Drv.ge, and a study plan that gets most candidates to a pass in two to three weeks. How the theory exam works in Georgia
The theory test is the first of three stages of a Georgian driving licence (theory → yard → city). It is a computer test taken in the exam room of a Service Agency unit; for category B it has 30 questions and a time limit of 30 minutes — about 60 seconds per question if you spread the time evenly.[1] Each question shows a text, often a picture (a road situation, a sign or a marking), and several answer options, one of which is correct.
Since the reform of 21 May 2026 a category-B candidate may make 5 mistakes instead of 3: 25 correct answers out of 30 pass.[3, 4] The other categories:[3]

The exam is offered in Georgian, Abkhazian, Ossetian, English, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian; you choose the language when you book.[3] Booking is compulsory and online — exam-booking.sa.gov.ge or your account at my.sa.gov.ge — and the fee is paid electronically within the time the system shows.[5, 6] Admission costs 40 ₾; if you pass, the practical attempts within the following 30 days are covered by that fee, and the licence itself costs 15 ₾.[2, 6] Failing means booking again and paying 40 ₾ again.[2] The full route — documents, medical certificate, the two practical stages, cancellations — is in our step-by-step licence guide.
Where the questions come from
The Service Agency writes the exam questions and makes the official set available at my.sa.gov.ge and in its SERVICE AGENCY mobile app after registration.[7] Drv.ge practises the same questions, in Georgian, English and Russian, with an explanation for every answer. The bank changes a few times a year — questions are added, reworded or withdrawn. The Agency's informational page still lists the older, larger counts; what actually changed and when is logged in our question-bank updates. If a practice site quotes "1,083 questions" for category B, it is practising a bank that no longer exists.

Practice modes on Drv.ge
- By topic. The bank is split into the topics of the exam (road signs, markings, right of way at junctions, overtaking, speed, stopping and parking, lights and signals, and so on). Work through one topic until you stop making mistakes in it, then move to the next.
- All questions. Random questions from the whole bank, without a timer — the mode for the days you want volume.
- Exam simulation. 30 questions, 30 minutes, pass mark 25 — identical in form to the real sitting.
- Mistakes only. Every question you have ever answered wrongly, retried until you get it right.
- Spaced review and bookmarks. Questions you saved, and questions the system brings back at growing intervals so they stay learned.
- An explanation for every answer — why the correct option is correct and why the others are not, with the rule behind it. Read them; the explanation is what turns a guessed question into a learned one.

A study plan that works
- Day 1 — take the exam simulation cold. Do not study first. The score tells you how far you are, and the missed questions tell you which topics to start with.
- Days 2–10 — one or two topics a day, by topic. Signs and markings first (they are the largest share of the bank and the easiest to learn from the catalogue), then right of way at junctions (draw the junction if you must, and say out loud who goes first and why), then speed, overtaking, stopping and parking, lights, and the rest.
- Every day — the mistakes mode for ten minutes. Your own mistakes are the highest-value questions in the bank. Read the explanation each time; if you cannot say why the other options are wrong, you have not learned it yet.
- Days 11–20 — exam simulations, one or two a day. Time yourself. Mark the questions you guessed as bookmarks even when the guess was right, and clear them the next day.
- The last three days — mistakes and bookmarks only, then one simulation each morning. Book the exam for a morning; arrive with the same routine.
When are you ready?
Ready is not "passed one simulation". It is scoring 29 or 30 out of 30 on five simulations in a row, with the time to spare, and being able to explain any question you got right by guessing. At that point the real exam's pass mark of 25 leaves you a margin of several unfamiliar wordings or nerves.[3] Book the exam only then — every failed sitting costs another 40 ₾ and a wait of at least a week.[2, 5]

What happens if I fail the theory test?
You book again and pay 40 ₾ again; after a no-show the next booking is possible from the 7th calendar day.[2, 5] There is no limit on attempts.
How long does it take to prepare?
Most candidates who follow the plan above — topics first, mistakes every day, simulations in the second half — are ready in two to three weeks of 30–40 minutes a day. Starting from a cold simulation on day 1 tells you where you are.
